Today the SEPAC board members met the new Superintendent, Dr Rodrigues. It was a very positive meeting and we look forward to working with him in the future.
In fact, we are excited to be a part of what will hopefully be the positive changes that our families and children of special needs have been hoping for.
I found Dr Rodrigues to be one of the best listeners and feel our concerns were truly heard. He was engaged in the conversation, asked questions, was thoughtful, pragmatic, took notations etc.... It made me walk away from our meeting believing that his goals run parallel to ours.
IEP meetings will start the 2017-18 school year with a new look - ACTUAL TEAM LEADERS to run the meetings! We have a Superintendent already locked in to two Round Table meetings with SEPAC members because he truly wants to have conversation with parents. Student Services will be hiring an Assistant Director. This is just a few things.
This momentum can only move forward and it will take the whole community working together to keep it on track. It's possible. Time will tell.
